Aphasia and localization: aphasia: loss of the ability to speak. Broca"s aphasia (a language disorder resulting from brain damage in which the primary dif culty is with producing language (speaking) rather than understanding language. ) This is a de cit in speech comprehension without a loss in speech production. This is associated with damage to the left side of the brain as well but much closer to the back of the brain than the front. : neuroanatomy, brain lesions, brain stimulation, brain imaging. Brain structure: right hemisphere: in charge of spatial abilities, face recognition and processing music and helps us comprehend visual imagery, left hemisphere: dominant in language, processing what you hear and handling most of the duties of speaking. Also in charge of carrying out logic and exact mathematical computations: the brainstem, cerebellum and hypothalamus are found in the middle or midline of the brain.
