These imagined communities come from mass literacy, print capitalism (mass production of print matter). These two things made print matter accessible to many people, who were able to read these because of mass literacy. This meant that many people were reading the same things, about shared sense of history, all forming a sense of nationalism. Elie kedourie- ideological tied to liberalism.
