Ww2 started out as a conventional war, but ended in a nuclear war. Some argue that the only power transition war we have is the cold war, but this did not end how power transition theorist thought it would end because of nuclear warfare availability. It was conducive more towards peace than war, because no one actually wants to use. Nuclear weapons because of the potential extermination of humankind. Many people say that nuclear weapons are supposed to be made, but not actually used. Later on in the cold war, the potential of this disappeared: second strike means that it has the capability to ride out the first attack, it can defend themselves and then launch another attack.
