PHGY 214 Lecture Notes - Lecture 28: Stenosis, Serca, Ventricular Hypertrophy
Document Summary
End-diastolic volume= 135ml blood volume at end of diastole period isovolumic relaxation, decrease in pressure filling of chamber and atrial contraction systole contraction and emptying (ventricular myocytes contract) Esv= 65ml (amount of blood left in ventricle) L ventricle pressure exceeds 80-120 mmhg leading to blood expulsion. Strove volume (sv): amount of blood ejected into sys, 70 ml. Av valve is open ventricles passively fill w blood, atria allows this. Av valves close b/c ventricles are starting to contract, ventricular pressure higher than atria. B c no change in volume, isovolumic contraction, all valves closed, pressure has not been exceeded. Aortic valve opens, 80 mmhg builds up to 120 mmhg, causes ejection of blood into aorta. Ventricular pressure decreased from aortic causing aortic valve to close. Point d a decrease in pressure as ventricles relax, chambers expand, no valves are open.
