Late in his career, newton was the master of the royal mint for a time. Principia: famous book in which he revolutionized our understanding of physics through the development of the laws of mechanics, the relationship between forces and motions. Any body in any state of motion, including a body at rest, will stay in that state of motion unless an unbalanced force is acting on it. Unbalanced" is the point that you can have a number of forces applied, but if they counter each other, no motion with ensure. Noted that the motion of the moon in its constantly turning path must mean that there is a force being applied to it. In physics, acceleration is any change in the state of motion of an object. This includes speeding up, slowing down, and/or changing direction.
