Includes enzymes (aromatase, asprin, viagra), ion chans (omeprazole), dna, rna cell surface proteins (most common) Effect of drug caused by drug occupying r, effect prop to [dr] Effect is a function of # of rs, affinity of drug rs, effectiveness of drug at changing functional state of r. If [d]= 1/2kd then 33% of max cap, typically 2kd (dissoc constant) used. Affinity: mutual attraction b/n drug+ r, greater affinity=red (shift l) Efficacy: intensity of mole/cellular change that results from a drug-r interaction, greater efficacy= red. Potency: dose or conc of drug, related to both affinity + efficacy, more potent= shift l (less for same effect)
