Planning helps you answer: what factors are most important, what factors are most amenable to change?- easiest to change. Participatory research is a key at steps 1 and 4, helps to know what the population needs and values. Achieving buy in and participation of stakeholder (anyone who will be affected by the program, people for the program and service providers) Haphazardly- not systematic- randomly and in various order- not a good way to do health promotion. Precede/proceed: green and kreuter, most widely used. Various other models (logframes, pabcar, generic models, etc. ) Precede- predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling constructs in education/ecological diagnosis and evaluation. Focus is planning, important to remember cultural competence and sensitivity, start out very broad then get more specific. Proceed-policy, regulatory, and organizational constructs in educational and environmental development. Purpose: determine people"s perceptions of their own needs and quality of life. Recognizes relationship between health and social factors- underlying factors. Methods of social assessment: secondary data.
