Peasants of morelo first joined revolution in 1910 over issue far removed from immediate concerns: irregularity in the process of presidential succession. Solving this problem didn"t do much to address peasant"s needs, however. Mexican revolution is the first modern social revolution of the twentieth century. Resulted in writing on new constitution in 1917. Start of twentieth century, mexico was agrarian country. Landownership and struggles over land reform central to mexico"s political formation. Diaz"s political, economic, and cultural dominance created an era named as, the porfiriato. Most of diaz"s changes benefited his close supporters and foreign investors.
