Different approaches to studying the beginning (i. e religious approach) The neanderthals lived much longer than we did. We were the most evolved and everything began to have a quick pace compared to that of the neanderthals. First cultures began to emerge, especially with the cities around water sources. Water plays a huge part in the development of cities during this period. How water availability shaped their basic city structure. Egypt was named the gift of the nile. The nile was a very predictable river and it constantly fertilized the soil. Less development of hydraulic technology, salinization of the soil remained low.
