Conformity: no missing time in rock record (continuous sedimentation) Disconformity: missing time (sea level fall) Angular unconformity: missing time and there is an angle between beds below and above, this is caused by mountain building. Correlate different stratigraphic layers between different sections: e. g. Matching layers between grand canyon national park, zion national. Park, and bryce canyon national park: fossils are the main resource used to correlate layers on a wider scale (ex. Different fossils are found relating to different periods in time so they indicate a relative time the stratigraphic layer was deposited.
