Prevents wild climate swings: it has slowed the earths rotation rate over geological time. Number of days in a year 450 million years ago: 414: it has provided tidal flats and pools for life. Corals have growth rings: stromatolites in shark bay, form mucuous at the top. Meteorites: small amount on average, dust particles come down. Internal energy: leads to the melting of rock deep in the earth: the earth is a heat engine: causes earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains. Summarizes the interaction of external and internal energy. Rocks are in constant change, from one type into another.
