Settlers perspectives: land: cold, barren, land of plenty, native peoples. The idea of the (cid:858)i(cid:374)dia(cid:374)(cid:859: cartier thought he(cid:859)d fou(cid:374)d i(cid:374)dia. Land as empty: they believed the aboriginals were completely nomadic (not the case)
