In 1876, as a six-year-old, leacock and his family moved to a farm near lake simcoe, ontario. In 1882, leacock was sent to upper canada collage, a toronto private school. Studied at uoft but had to dropped out due to financial concerns. He then went to teach high-school but did not enjoy it. Went back to work at upper canada college ( salary) and part-time studies. Science, where he worked until 1936: success as an academic: elements of political science (1906) and the 1907-08 lecture tour. In 1910, leacock decided he wanted to published a book of comic stories. Houghton mifflin, american publisher, rejected this book. Lea(cid:272)o(cid:272)k"s (cid:271)rother, george, e(cid:374)(cid:272)ouraged hi(cid:373) to pu(cid:271)lish at his ow(cid:374) e(cid:454)pe(cid:374)se. For (annual salary was ) he published it.
