Found in the tomb of an adult woman on the shore of a lake in etruscan territory. Made of bronze so even though it is relatively small it is heavy. Comprehensive for the technology of the time it is a cutting edge and exceptional piece. Other goods found in the tomb were also rich in quality shows she was an elite woman. Likely an incense burner some more or less similar objects in near east and. Some believe it could have been a ritual cup: both agree that it is not an object for daily use it is unusual and complex. First and apparently only time that the etruscans made such an object: most likely others but they are lost to us. A number of small bronze figures form the support for the cup: during the second half of the 8th century figures like this were very rare and hard to make.
