The four elements if physics are made up of smaller elements (essentially atoms) Doesn"t have long running tenacity as a theory. Details of plato"s thought kept essentially in plato"s school. Plato uses his mind and then explains how the world works vs looking at the world and building up a theory in his mind. An explanation puts an end to a chain of questions. There are two directions in an explanation or an argument can run. Bottom up (induction: going from experience and building up a set of rules that can be applied to all. Aristotle is a mix of both: plato is top-down. Everything before alexander is classical greek history. Some things exist by nature, some by other causes. Human or animal creation of things non-natural. Things grow i. e plants change of quality trees change colours change of form or substance.
