The scienti c method: as if there is just one. Tries to understand natural objects/things in the world. Thomas kuhn, structure of scienti c revolutions (1962: history, if viewed as repository for more than anecdote or chronology, could produce a decisive transformation in the image of science with which we are now possessed. We shouldn"t think of science as something that moves from false to true exactly. The progressivist model: in the beginning, there was myth. Religion, superstition, falsehood of some kind: then: science! People came along and said that they could test the myths/superstitions. Accumulates and we build on it by studying it more to learn more. We come closer and closer to the truth. Latour and woolgar, laboratory life 1979: image made by anthropologists, anomalies. Things that no one can explain, small things. Example: when it was believed that the earth was the centre of the universe: different speeds of planets, crisis.
