Document Summary
All urban dweller would get the primary 7-11 education. Once finished, would have a basic knowledge that allow them to function in society. After this, the poorer people who could not afford more education. They could apprentice with a tradesman for a trade. All about refining speaking ability and analyzing literature. Science of correct speech and expounding of the poets. One must read the poets for content and style. A good founding in literature which will help them if they go to the next srage. Continue in literature, history, law, astronomy, geography, philosophy, music, etc. Ultimate goal is to turn you into a good rhetorician, make you able to argue anything at any point. Suasoriae: arguments based on myth and history (myth: slaughtering of daughter for sacrifice to gods, history: cicero is sentenced to death, should he beg for mercy or stand for his values)
