Poster: come from 5 chapters of last part of the course. Historically in most cultures, males had been favoured (favouritism, inheritance) Son"s sons are the crown of old men . Even with polygamy there will be more poor people in a society. Polygamists prefer daughters because they can marry up. This means that in some poorer cultures, by having more daughters you will have more descendants. Fertility rate has been dropping due to ramping up of empowerment of women: women were able to decide the number of kids they wanted. The age and structure of the economy is going to change causing economic problems because there are older people than younger. Historically richer people had more offspring (ones that survived and could support themselves- lived to have grandchildren) because they could afford it. Even today, wealth allows for more production and growth. No matter the species, if there are more species available to support maternal effort will produce more offspring.
