Mind a mysterious form of matter secreted by the brain. Chief activity consists in the endeavour to ascertain its own nture, the futility of the attempt being due to the fact that it has nothing but itself to know itself with. A(cid:374)d so (cid:449)e (cid:373)ay (cid:374)ot (cid:271)e parti(cid:272)ularly o(cid:271)je(cid:272)ti(cid:448)e i(cid:374) our a(cid:374)alysis. We"re easily distra(cid:272)ted a(cid:374)d easily deluded: culture as a product o the curse of self-awareness: The conundrum of consciousness what does it mean to be a self-conscious animal, the idea is ludicrous if not monstrous. Terror management theory humans are in constant danger of being incapacitated by overwhelming anxiety of impeding death.
