BIOL 103 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Carboxylic Acid, Exocytosis, Gastric Acid
Document Summary
Slow oxidative fibres- helps get myosin heads off actin, for sustained activity (red meat in chicken legs, breast meat in canada goose b/c sustain flying during migration) Fast oxidative fibres- much more atp activity on the myosin, lots of mitochondria- rattle snake tail. Fast glycolytic fibres-fewer mitochondria, lots of atp activity. Pale colour, rapid intense actions that fatigue easily. Skeletal muscles are multi nuclei- real reason: cell fusion! (if you stress myoblasts by not giving them a rich medium that they would normally happily grow and divide in, muscle cells start to fuse, creating multi-nuclei. ) Need to put them in a less nutritious medium. Not like newts or frogs that can regrow body parts and go backwards from multi-nuclei cells to baby myoblast cells. Sensory neurons highly branched dendrites- interact with lots of other neurons or cells (could be a muscle cell) Interneurons- dendrites are highly branched, axon is short.
