small and one large subunit, most abundant type can read
the DNA to det the correct tRNA needed
tRNA: adapter molecules used to help make mRNA by
transferring aa from cytoplasm to their appropriate location
in the growing polypep cahin during protein synthesis,
contains a seq of 3 bases (anticodon), formed codon code for
a specific aa
Nucleic acids
Composed of nucleotides (organic molecule, basic structural unit for DNA and RNA), has uniform –ve charge
allowing for +vely charged ribosome to slide along quickly
Phosphodiester ods: / 5’ phosphate ad 3’ hdrol of two oleules, 5’ 3’ ased o their free ends
Nucleotide composition:
Nitrogenous base: discovered by Kossel, basic properties
- Purines: two rings, A and G
- Pyrimidines: one ring, C, U and T
Pentose sugar
1+ phosphate group (nucleoside DN have a P)
