Aeneas sylvius piccolomini journeys to the council of basel in the winter of 1432. Enea gives an oration before king james of scotland: depicted as a learned humanist. Enea is crowned poet laureate by emperor frederick iii. These are all events that his nephew decided to celebrate. This was strategic to emphasize, since the nephew was also made pope. Enea makes an act of submission to pope eugenius iv: pius was not without controversy.
