Mostly had no art until contact with humans. *all cave paintings done deep inside cave, low oxygen therefore hard to breathe. Deep caes thought to be spiritual places (places of importance) Believed to be painted by hunter gatherers who worshiped animals. Used charcoal, fingers, animal blood, plant matter. Caves were only lit using animal fat torches. Thought to be roman graffiti , and rejected by france. 3 divers attempted to reach cave therefore discovered it. During the time of painting, probably an ice age in europe.
