Primary bronchi: start at t5 airways that bring air to each of the lungs, divide into 3 secondary bronchi, r is shorter, wider + more vertical, pseudo columnar cells. Secondary (lobar) bronchi: one for each lobe, l side divides into 2 and r into 3. Tertiary (segmental) bronchi: each bronchopulmonary seg has one, 10 on. Terminal bronchioles: one supplies one pulm lobule, contain clara cells (secrete surfactant, detox and act as stem cells) C shaped cart replaced by islands and then by nothing at bronchioles. Epithelium at proximal end is rte w goblet cells pseudo columnar ciliated simple cuboidal simple cuboidal in terminal bronchioles. Scattered smooth muscle complete layer at bronchioles level smaller layer at terminal bronchioles (as amount of cart decreases amount of smooth muscle increases) Resp bronchioles: contains alveoli, simple cuboidal simple squamous epithelium, contain dust cells (macrophages) that eat antigen leaves thru interalveolar septum follows ct to lung surface leaving carbon deposits that outline lobules of lung.
