Document Summary

When a parent cell splits into 2 or more daughter cells. It just depends on the organism it is. Unicellular organisms divide through asexual reproduction and it happens very quickly. Multicellular organisms use mitosis to help us grow, develop and repair the body. Requirements are passing on a complete set of genetic information and materials necessary to survive (ex. Starts with a growth phase, it then decides if it wants to grow more or not to continue growing, it replicates dna and prepares to divide, cell division happens (mitosis) and then the cycle begins again. Organisms with more complex cells every cell has specialized parts (organelles) that have membranes and specific functions. Ex. nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, etc. (plants & animals. ) They contain cytoplasm in the general area of the cell where all functions are carried out. Nucleoid region . (bacteria and other single celled organisms. ) Somatic cells: growth, development, repair and asexual reproduction.
