Oppression and privilege and how it works in society. Earned if you fit into a certain criteria. Systemic oppression (cannot be fixed by one person alone) Norms- our idea of gender norms or appearance norms and they"ve changed. Normative- our idea of sexed bodies changes over time. Don"t look at what is normal , because then someone is always. We are challenged with the ideas of what: Then when something doesn"t fit into normal they are excluded. Let"s look at it as a system of unearned advantage. Asks us to extend our notion of cis- gender men and women. How does having unearned privilege damage not only other , but the privileged, as well: male privilege. If we acknowledge that women are disadvantaged (ex. Paid less than men, work at home after coming home from a full day job) then we must also acknowledge that men are correspondingly privileged.
