It is broken down into two systems that are narrative and style. Narrative: is a chain of evets in a cause-effect relationship occurring in time and space. Causal agent: the characters of the film are the main causal agents. The events of the film move forward b/s of the action of the characters. Traits/attri(cid:271)utes: a(cid:271)ilities or desires that the (cid:272)hara(cid:272)ters" ha(cid:448)e. There attributes are linked to what the character does/their function to the story. They become cause and effect relations when the characters are motivated by the attributes. The (cid:272)hara(cid:272)ters" act towards their goals which motivates the story forward. Chara(cid:272)ters" desires (cid:374)aturalize their a(cid:272)tio(cid:374)s a(cid:374)d they (cid:271)e(cid:272)o(cid:373)e relata(cid:271)le. If there are no relationships b/w events, then there is no narrative. Story: is the entire narrative of a film including all those events shown in the film, and all the events inferred by the film.
