Symbolic interactionism (si: a theoretical perspective in socpsy that is concerned with the meanings we create, work with, and negotiate and sometimes change socially. Intersubjectivity an introvert or extrovert: coined by robert cruz (taught at waterloo, recently retired, subjectivity = one person"s understanding of what"s going on. It occurs within certains societies, cultures, groups: who/what/when/where are all important to meaning making. Internet and texting changed communications (e. g. acronyms, abbreviations) 100% predict behaviour - there is spontaneity in it: mead"s i and me , the self is in 2 parts, me: fully socialized, accepted social norms and values, behaves properly in a particular situation. I: spontaneous, can"t be predicted, the unexpected response, in opposition to the situation. Is human behaviour predictable: the networks what develop between people, can"t remove an individual from society. Thomas: post-wwii, blumer (micro) (definition of society, blumer, kuhn, the 20 statements test, quantitative studies need more work.
