Basically how we view the world; changes as we live. It was colder than a bitch today so we reacted to that cold situation" by immediately understanding that my cold ass needs to get a sweater and a beanie on. Guide our inferences and judgments about people and objects. Can still be filled with stereotypes and biases; think heuristics. More interaction leads to less uniformity in the group resulting in more complex schema. The bigger the group or interactions, the less uniformity since there"s more viewpoints, perspectives, there"s more diversity. Less complex schemas can lead to extreme evaluations. Difficult to break away from existing schema. It"s hard to break away since we become accustomed to it and it creates more work to do others.
