Trait centrality: certain traits have more of an impact on our impression we eventually form of a person, a trait has a high level of trait centrality if it has a large impression, warm vs. Attribution theory: the process that an observer infers the causes of someone else"s behaviour, we observe and infer backward to its causes (intentions, abilities, traits, motives, situational, why people act as they do. Principle of covariation: attributing the behaviour to a factor that is : Present when the behaviour occurs- if the behaviour occurs when the factor occurs. Presence of a factor is occurring when behaviour occurs. Absent when the behaviour fails to occur- a factor that covaries with a behaviour- If the behaviour doesn"t occur we conclude the factor isn"t occurring as well.
