Criicisms: ignoring conlict, assuming all of us have shared interests, views change as problemaic, not contemplaing diferent interests of individual family members. Nuclear family most ideal because the sexual division of labour is funcional for families and society. Family regulates sexual acivity, economic cooperaion (man breadwinner, sharing with woman), reproducion, socializaion of children, and emoional support of people in family. Schools taken over funcions once only performed by family. Criique: didn"t look at variaion in families across ime and cultures, saw any diversity as problemaic. Men and women are diferent (bio and psych) need strict division of labour.
