Bonnie fox when the baby comes home: the dynamics of gender in the making of family . Fox studied a small group of irst ime parents. Fox is interested in understanding why most couples become convenional in their division of labour with women taking care of children and men direcing their energies towards breadwinning. Scholars like fox suggest that this sets up gender-based inequaliies which means that women shoulder more of the work while becoming more inancially dependent on their partner. This has consequences for saisfacion in a relaionship. In dunne"s study we see how lesbian couples don"t conform to convenional paterns. It was not the case that the woman who was the biological mother and experienced the pregnancy was necessarily the one doing more caregiving. Nor was it the case that the lower earning woman shouldered more caregiving. In fact dunne found the opposite to be true.
