Interviewing to try to understand money relations from the point of view of the families themselves: to understand processes behind things like gender differences in spending, social meanings behind money. Limitations of the study sample: small sample very exploratory for methodological reasons. Can"t easily generalize to the whole pop. Random sample of urban, mostly middle class obs doesn"t reflect the diversity of canadian fams.
