Ch 25 fox colavecchia moneywork, caregiving. Study of moneywork in couples: sample of married canadian couples, study of managing finances. Moneywork unpaid labour dealing with managing finances. Moneywork was gendered: considered female responsibility. Had emo consequences for women"s personal spending: very time intensive, stress and anxiety. Women developed a relational perspective on money: compared spending habits of couples and saw women more aware/responsible with finances. Connections among money, power and gender in marriage: used feminist methodology. Interviewing to try to understand money relations from the point of view of the families themselves: to understand processes behind things like gender differences in spending, social meanings behind money. Limitations of the study sample: small sample very exploratory for methodological reasons. Can"t easily generalize to the whole pop. Random sample of urban, mostly middle class obs doesn"t reflect the diversity of canadian fams.
