Ronald reagan and margaret thatcher were very much influenced by these two individuals. Policies towards the poor changed once you use the lens of neoliberalism. When ronald regan entered into the working scene in the 1980s, the myth that people were scamming the system resurfaced and there was feelings of hostility towards those people at the bottom end. 1: governments should sell off any assets they own that private corporations could be running at a profit. Governments should dramatically cut back funding to social programme. Absolute poverty was not increasing but relative poverty continued to increase and the poor were continuing to be left behind.
