Over 130 million women left their villages in search of jobs in the globalized economy. On tv they say that china is in a new era - with lots of opportunities. Because it allowed them to get outside the home -- allows them to get money. Because they are typically under the dominant control of their husbands/fathers. Demonstrates the regulation of women"s bodies in work. These women were not necessarily liberated - because they are not spending the money on themselves. The company thus had complete control over their whole routine. They are available whenever the company needs them. They can send them home whenever they want and cuts costs to the maximum. Neoliberalism; it ends up making their livelihoods at home worst because they do not have the cash to pay into the cost of living. Thus they sent their children to the city in order to pay for the cost of living.
