Members of a minority group share physical or cultural characteristics: times where minorities look exactly like the dominant group, but they"re the minority. Not voluntary, people are born into it. Tend to marry within the group: due to feelings of exclusion from dominant or other groups, this can define the larger societies values. Dominant group has the power to construct the hierarchy. Skin pigmentation, hair type, size of brain (as examples of physical features)
