Would emphasize how roles would change person in time b/c of rules of role. Gender is a social construct, identities are continually accessed thru interactions w. others (identity theory: effect of this theory: to maintain role of sentiments. Study theory proposes self-consistency is more imp that maintaining a positive image. Reaffirm social identities it doesn"t tackle how they are formed in the first place. Sentiments as signals of how well we play roles. Researchers found everyone changed middle world, everyone has perceived notion of how ppl should act and we change the act itself and reimagine it so it makes sense of our conceptions of these roles. Soc struc and personality: in relation to social strat, interested in how structural arrangements creates power, roles, status & power: macro level. Group process theory: in relation to soc strat, interested in how groups reproduce large scale soc strat. Interested in group processes and how they continue: meso level.
