Industrial capitalism is characterized by its own contradictions and problems. 1) the constant drive toward wealth accumulation 2) narrowing of class structure 3) Homogenization of labour 4) constant crisis in profit 5) alienation. Symbolic interactionism people act toward things based on the meaning those things have for them; and these meanings are derived from social interaction and modified through interpretation.
