Feminist theory: gender-based inequalities get reproduced through, curriculum, absence of role models. Kindergarten teachers often female, high school principles are often male: student-teacher interactions. Teachers teach students diff based on gender (evaluate males as worse behaved but more intelligent than females: student-student interactions (hostile hallways) New society hostile hallways: sexual harassment i schools that a number report in research (marginalization: dramatic changes female academic success, sex segregation based on fields of study women under represented in math & sciences. Student today are getting higher marks than they should, led to increasing # of students that are disengaged. Argue hs grades inflated overtime, greater # of students are a students, studying less. Parents & grandparents less were getting a"s & studied more. Not giving a realistic picture of strengths & limitations with that they may be motivated to work harder. Why? pressure for uni acceptance, history of education philosophies are changing (ns emphasis on self-esteem & importance for young people)
