Definitions and social policy: policies that assume financial support (i. e. filial responsibility laws, policies can deter relationship formation, defining marriage: same-sex marriage provides policy reform and societal recognition of same sex relationships (ch 17, siq, green) A sociological perspective: families are socially constructed and change over time and place. Inclusive definitions emphasizing social reproduction(caring work: not focus on the role, but the goal, the physical work(grocery), emotional work, mental work(financial, bonnie fox and meg luxton (fox and luxton, 2001, p. 29)
