Paid and unpaid labour are mutually reinforcing channeling women towards lower paying jobs and domestic labour. What kind of job people have is sometimes determined by their gender. Ex: the trades have a lack of women. This creates differences in pay and reduces the chances of promotion. This is starting to decline (ex: women are tending to move into more male dominated fields) Within the same occupation women still earning less. Wo(cid:373)e(cid:374)"s respo(cid:374)si(cid:271)ilities for (cid:272)hild (cid:272)ari(cid:374)g rei(cid:374)for(cid:272)e their roles i(cid:374) the la(cid:271)our (cid:373)arket (heterosexual couples) if the women earns less than her husband she will stay home more to take care of the child. In other households (ex: lesbian, gay) these differences are not as abundant.
