A covenant is an agreement between 2 parties. It means that abram and his descendants were chosen, god"s election of people. The israelites: they go to the wilderness for 40 days. The israelites are given the torah on mount sinai. It has to do with a bunch of commandments out of love so people can truly follow the ways of god. Not following these commandments lead to sin or disobedience.
