Assumes we all know what the biblical narrative is. Book of nehemiah; comes after the historical books. Talks about after an exile experienced by the. Ezra tells them to pray and confess their sins. Nehemiah 9, 6: the israelites confess their sins. After the creation we go to abram " abraham. Significant because we move from a wide scope of creation, to a narrow scope as we follow a particular person and his family. There"s a relationship established with abram, it is the covenant. A covenant is an agreement between 2 parties. It means that abram and his descendants were chosen, god"s election of people. The israelites: they go to the wilderness for 40 days. The israelites are given the torah on mount sinai. It has to do with a bunch of commandments out of love so people can truly follow the ways of god. Not following these commandments lead to sin or disobedience.
