Served 22 years of 63- year rape sentence. David hansen: charged with rape, kidnapping in 2005 on identification by victim from 1,500 photos. Marlon pendleton: 1992 rape conviction based on victim identification overturned in 2006 based on dna test. James lee woodard: convicted in 1980 of murder on the basis of two eyewitnesses. Dna evidence in 2008 after 27 years in prison for murder. Michael philips: convicted in 1990 on the basis of rape-victim identification. Dr. donald m. thompson: australian psychologist, lawyer & memory expert. Detained by police in 1975 for rape based on victim"s description. When crime occurred, was on tv program describing how one could improve one"s memory for faces. While rape was happening, his face was on the tv and the victim saw him and linked him to the rape. Innocence project estimates 73% (almost 75%) of false convictions based on mistaken eyewitness identification.
