Victims as object: offender has no feeling or connection with the victim, who does not play and active role in the assault. If they have a high desire for control this may involve mutilation, low intelligence, poor contact with reality, eccentric. If they have low desire sexual component prominent, murder not major goal. Victim ad a person: offender sees the individual as a person tries to identify and understand but they have no true empathy for them. It is hard to understand the high versus low desire for control. It is very difficult to evaluate profiles because they usually do not release them: there are a few where and fbi profile has gone public. Dc beltway sniper: a series of murders took at a highway strip, people were filling gas and a sniper would shoot them, people were terrified so they released a profile, their profile was completely wrong.
