How to find these rewarding people: propinquity physical proximity; probably people you"ve met because of where you"ve sat in class, for example, those who are physically close have the better chance of being rewarding to us. Factors affecting attraction to potentially rewarding people: attractiveness, reciprocation: agreeableness, similarity. Physical proximity plays a role in whether we will: online dating relationships when people live in close geographic proximity, meet people, interact with people, like people, befriend people, become attracted (and attractive!) to people. The more time we spend together, the more we like one another: fall in love with people, marry them. Research evidence: online dating = ldr. The closer they live to you, the more successful the relationship: festinger, schacter & back (1950) westgate study in propinquity and friendship. Post ww2: soldier return, offered uni education for cheap, huge influx of mature students going to uni, uni"s built residence buildings to accommodate for the extra students.
