Gauging resources and looks is relatively easy. Love as an evolved psychological mechanism: love is old, love is universal. Looked for evidence that they have a concept of love. Found that 89% showed evidence of love love is basically universal: love is important (e. g. buss 1989) 2. 81 for men and 2. 87 for women. Most important trait for a partner is the signal of commitment. Buss (2006) on behaviours women view as acts of love. Main definition acts of commitment: exclusivity, talk of marriage, sharing resources, expressing desire for children, emotional support.
