Focus on the human potential, on helping people on find and create meaning in their life. When people do bad things it is because the experiences they have had or have been denied, and we are good but when we are deflected from our path we become bad etc. They want to understand each and every individual. The other science tend to be monographic because they want to draw conclusions and generalize. The humanist want to optimize the potential of each person and they understand that they are all different in their own way and they see the world different and interpret things differently. Reductionism- they start with something and we ask what lies underneath this and what process leads to this? what leads to the process etc. The humanist are not opposed to this but they feel that you cannot divide personality into instincts etc. you have to look at the person as a whole.
