Finished phd under supervision of harlow started booming-the states realized this and started following it as well. Focus on meaning of life for individual: desire to help the person achieve understanding, wholeness, meaning-tries to help individual to be their full potential and all they can be. Instictoid motivation: maslow believed that human motivation was instinctive and biological determined, not dominating, uncontrollable. Instinctoid is different than instinct: unlike animal instinct, when animals have instincts, you can"t stop them-uncontrollable, instinctoid is biological determined like instinct, but it can be controlled, can be controlled, overlain by learning, cultural expectation. Maslow"s hierarchy of needs: he believed there were many instinctoids in behaviour.
