Freud"s ideas is very influential on many things in today world. No scientist is talked about/written about more than freud is-it"s all throughout literature. Mother"s favourite child-his needs took preference in his household over other children. Wanted to be a professor-there was so many already so he feared he"d never get job. Wanted to get married-but you needed enough income to do this. Most of his patients were women with hysteria. He discovered that their problems of hysteria weren"t physical-it was psychological. When they gained memory of their symptoms and how they felt during them, they would go away. Basically they won"t remember everything when they go into hypnotic state. They discovered that we sometimes do things that we aren"t sure of. We do not know why we behave the way we do sometimes. He then practiced free association: this is when he would sit with the patient and wait until they got to certain thoughts of interest.
