Individuals that are most strongly affected were simply put in the category autism, and those with lesser of the disability were labeled as asperger"s. Doesn"t interact well with others, may have an egocentric view on the world. Failure to initiate or respond to social interactions. From 1-2 years old, a child with autism will not conform to your body when held, will almost never show eye-to-eye contact or even acknowledge you. Will not respond to their name (though they do know their name). They won"t share the toys they like, or show what they want to get. Don"t have the ability to imagine the world other than what it literally is very literal with how they view the world. In extreme cases, total absence of interest in peers. Stereotyped, repetitive movement, speech etc. things have to be exactly right.
